Sacred City Kids is all about families living the gospel. Every Sunday is designed with this in mind. Every lesson developed, every policy written, and every diaper changed is ultimately about families living the gospel. Our desire is to see kids who love Jesus!
In particular, Sacred City Kids exists to assist parents as they teach and live out the gospel with their children. Notice that we simply want to assist. We do not believe it is our job to carry the heavy load of teaching and developing your children. The Bible makes it clear that parents, before any other institution, are responsible for the development of their children, especially when it comes to knowing and loving and believing the gospel (Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Ephesians 6:1-4). As parents nurture their children spiritually, Sacred City Kids simply reinforces what is already going on in the family.
On Sunday mornings, we have three age-appropriate classes, because kids learn differently as they progress through life. These classes are:
Nursery (0-24 months): located in the lower level of the Junior Theatre, our nursery volunteers are equipped to pray for children and speak words of blessing to them as they engage in play.
Pre-school (3-5 year olds): located on the first floor of the cottage right next to the Junior Theatre, our volunteers for this class are trained to help kids visually learn and memorize Bible stories and gospel truths.
Lower Elementary (6-9 year olds): located upstairs in the same cottage, our elementary volunteers teach children Bible themes, help kids read the Bible for themselves and make the connection between Bible stories and their own lives.
