Every Sunday we gather to worship in song, liturgy, hearing the Word preached, and communion. This is what this past Sunday's Liturgy looked like:

- Opening Song: "Rising Sun" by All Sons and Daughters

CALL TO WORSHIP

Hear the call to worship from Psalm 66 ...

Shout for joy to God, all the earth;

sing the glory of his name;

give to him glorious praise!

Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!

So great is your power

that your enemies come cringing to you.

All the earth worships you

and sings praises to you;

they sing praises to your name.” Selah

Come and see what God has done:

he is awesome in his deeds

toward the children of man.

He turned the sea into dry land;

they passed through the river on foot.

There did we rejoice in him,

who rules by his might forever,

whose eyes keep watch on the nations—

let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Come and hear, all you who fear God,

and I will tell what he has done for my soul.

I cried to him with my mouth,

and high praise was on my tongue.

If I had cherished iniquity in my heart,

the Lord would not have listened.

But truly God has listened;

he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

Blessed be God,

because he has not rejected my prayer

or removed his steadfast love from me!

CONFESSION OF SIN

Let us confess our sins to the Father together…

Lord,

You are the faithful Shepherd

who walks beside us in green pastures

and through the valley of deep shadow.

You have promised to pursue us

with Your goodness and mercy

all the days of our lives.

Yet we confess that we often doubt

Your compassion and care for us.

When we are harassed and helpless,

instead of turning to You and trusting You

to lead us in straight paths,

we seek help in our idols and comfort in our sin.

When others around us are helpless,

we are impatient and lacking in compassion,

uncaring about their needs and concerns.

Father, forgive us.

Jesus, thank You for the compassion

You brought from heaven to live among us

as the Good Shepherd.

Thank You for entering life’s trials

and enduring death’s valley in our place.

Holy Spirit, be our comforter in the midst of trials.

Help us to trust You, find refuge in You,

and extend compassion and care to others.

Forgive us and help us, through Christ, our Lord,

Amen.

ABSOLUTION

Hear the good news from Psalm 118..

Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.”

Out of my distress I called on the Lord;

The Lord answered me and set me free.

The Lord is my strength and my song;

He has become my salvation.

I shall not die, but I shall live,

And recount the deeds of the Lord.

In Christ, God answers us and sets us free!

In Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

PROFESSION OF FAITH: MSA Catechism Q. 37

Let us profess our faith together by answering the following questions from the Morning Star Catechism...

L: Q37 -What is meant by atonement?

C: A -Christ died in the place of sinners to satisfy divine justice.

L & C: “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. ” - Isaiah 53:4-6

- Song: "Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery" by Matt Pappa

- Sermon: "The Quality of Salvation" with Samuel Schmidt

- Communion

LITURGICAL PRAYER

Please Stand and let us pray to our Father together...

Almighty God,

who shows all men that are in error the light of Your truth

so that they may return to the way of righteousness,

grant to those who are in fellowship with Christ

the ability to avoid the things

that are contrary to their profession

and follow those things which are in line with it.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

BENEDICTION

As we leave here today…

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

[From Numbers 6:24-26]

L: Peace be with you!

C: And also with you!
