Welcome back to Sacred City’s Liturgy Recap. Here you will find a complete rundown of all that happened as we gathered this past Sunday!

- Opening Song: "He Saved Our Souls (Luke 19:40)" by Sacred City Church

CALL TO WORSHIP

Hear the call to worship from Psalm 8 ...

O LORD, our Lord,

How majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babies and infants,

You have established strength because of your foes,

To still the enemy and the avenger.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,

The moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

What is man that you are mindful of him,

And the son of man that you care for him?

Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings

And crowned him with glory and honor.

You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;

You have put all things under his feet,

All sheep and oxen,

And also the beasts of the field,

The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,

Whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord,

How majestic is your name in all the earth!

CONFESSION OF SIN

Let us confess our sins to the Father together…

Oh Great God,

In Jesus Christ you did not disdain the company of sinners

But welcomed them with love.

Look upon us in mercy, we pray.

Our sins are more than we can bear;

Our pasts enslave us;

Our misdeeds are beyond correcting.

Forgive the wrongs we cannot undo;

Free us from a past we cannot change;

Heal what we can no longer fix.

By your grace, turn the tears of our past

Into the joys of new life with you. Amen.

ABSOLUTION #

Hear the good news...

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.

The old has passed away;

Behold, the new has come.

For our sake, God made him to be sin

Who know no sin,

So that in him we might become

The righteousness of God.

I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

Now live out of the new identity you have received in Christ.

PROFESSION OF FAITH (MSA Catechism Q. 1-3)

Let us profess our faith together by answering the following questions from the Morning Star Catechism...

L: Q1: Who made you?

C: A1: God.

C: Psalm 139:13

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

L: Q2: What else did God make?

C: A2: God made all things.

C: Colossians 1:16-17

“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

L: Q3: Why did God make you and all things?

C: A3: For His own glory.

C: Isaiah 43:6-7 -

“Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth - everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

LITURGICAL PRAYER

Please stand and let us come to the Father in prayer together...

Almighty God,

who made Your Son to be circumcised

and obedient to the law for man,

grant us the true circumcision of Your Spirit,

that our hearts and all our members,

being subdued from all worldly and carnal lusts,

may in all things obey Your will;

through the same Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

BENEDICTION

As we leave here today…

May the grace of Christ, which daily renews us, and the love of God, which enables us to love all, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, which unites us in one body, make us eager to obey the will of God until we meet again, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

[based on 2 Corinthians 13:13]

L: Peace be with you!
