Welcome back to Sacred City’s Liturgy Recap. Here you will find a complete rundown of all that happened as we gathered this past Sunday!

- Opening Song:

- Call To Worship:

Hear the call to worship from 1 Chronicles chapter 16...

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; Make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him; sing praises to him; Tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his name; Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and his strength; Seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered, O offspring of Israel his servants, Sons of Jacob, his chosen ones!

Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to held in awe above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.

- Song:

- Confession of Sin:

Almighty God, you created the world, and it was good. But our first parents fell into sin, and we have inherited their corruption. We confess that we have turned our backs on you; we have served our own idols; we have sought our own glory. Forgive our sin, O God, and renew us by your grace, that we might bring redemption to the world, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

- Absolution:

Hear the good news from Psalm 118...

Let those who fear the Lord say, "His steadfast love endures forever." Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

In Christ, God answers us and sets us free! In Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

- Song:

- Profession of Faith:

Let us profess our faith together...

We rejoice and affirm that the Lord is gracious and merciful, he is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He is good and his mercy is over all the he has made. The mercy of the Lord is such that he upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. He gives food in due season to those who look to him and he satisfies the hunger of everything living this. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. He is near to all who call on him in truth and he saves those who fear hi. The Lord preserves all who love him, but the wicked he will destroy. Our mouths shall speak the praise of our most gracious and merciful God!

- Song:

We continued through our study of the book of Jonah this week, and saw how God goes to war with our idols. Because God is all about his own glory, and in God's glory alone we find true joy, he graciously "idol blocks" us to bring us back to him. Listen as we saw how God did this with Jonah, how it made Jonah respond, and how we can relate to Jonah's sinful response in our own lives.

Sermon: "Angry Enough To Die" by Pastor Justin Dean

- Communion/Benediction:

As we leave here today...

May the God of Peace guard your hearts from the false and fading comfort of idols and may he lead you to find true satisfaction in the blessings that only he can provide. Go now in the name of the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit. Peace be with you!
