Welcome back to Sacred City’s Liturgy Recap. Here you will find a complete rundown of all that happened as we gathered this past Sunday!

- Opening Song:

- Call To Worship:

Hear the call to worship from Psalm 103:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! And forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord works righteousness and justin for all who are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, His acts to the people of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.

- Confession of Sin:

Let us confess our sins to the Father together...

Lord, you come to us, but we do not recognize you; You call, but we do not obey, you bless us, but we do not thank you. Please forgive and help us. Lord you accept us, but we do not except other; You forgive us, but we do not forgive those who wrong us; You love us, but we do not love our neighbors. Please forgive and help us. Lord, You showed us how to carry out Your mission, but we still insist on our own; You identified with the poor and needy, but we seek our ow wants and desires; You suffered and died for all, but we turn to our own comfort, In the midst of our lack of faith, You are always faithful! Please forgive and help us, You are the faithful one! Amen.

- Absolution:

Listen to the character of God described in his word and find comfort in his compassion for those who fear him. Psalm 103 tells us...

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. For he knows how we were made; he remembers that we are dust. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

- Song:

- Profession of Faith:

Let us profess our faith together...

We will trust the Lord forever, for the Lord is the Rock eternal. He humbles those who dwell on high, he lays the lofty city low; He levels the ground and casts it down to dust. He makes the way of the righteous smooth. We walk in the way of Your laws, oh Lord, and we wait for You; Your name and renown are the desires of our hearts. When your judgements come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished, you have done for us.

We got to present new members Cedrick & Kayla Turner, Chip & Kathie Diamond, Chris Halbreiter, Chris Ghess, and Trent & Leah Randle at our gathering. We are continually humbled by God's work in growing His church here in the Quad Cities. Congratulations to each new member!

Presenting New Members

We began our 6 weeks series in the book of Jonah this week, and learned much about the main character Jonah, a man who is running from God's grace.

- Sermon: "The Running Man" by Pastor Justin Dean

Justin Jonah 1

- Communion/Benediction:

As we leave here today...

May the Lord, who longs to be gracious to you, who waits on high to have compassion on you, plant you firmly in the faith, established, steadfast, and immovable, through the hope of the gospel, proclaimed to all the creation under heaven. Peace be with you!
