We think is is very important to study Jesus. Jesus didn't come simply saying He was another good teacher, or simply a prophet among other prophets, but came saying that He was God in the flesh. This is a weighty claim that if is untrue, is of no importance at all, but if He truly is who he says He is, then it is the most important thing we could ever study in the world. We looking at this real, authentic, historical God-Man, Jesus Christ, as He is depicted in the Gospel of Mark for the better part of the next year.

Why Study Jesus? from Sacred City Church on Vimeo.

This week we find ourselves in the fifth chapter of Mark (Mark 5:21-43) in which we see yet another story of Jesus healing helpless people. One is a woman who has been burdened with a discharge of blood for the past 12 years, and the other is a 12 year old girl who is on her death-bed. The young girl's father, Jairus, pleads with Jesus to come heal her, and Jesus is willing and follows him to his home. But on the way he takes time to stop and find out who the person was who touched Him amongst the crowd and was healed by Him.

Why would Jesus stop to do something like this in such a pressing and demanding moment?

How do you think Jairus felt about Jesus taking His time to get to his dying daughter?

Why does Mark seemingly sandwich this story of the bleeding woman in between an already exciting story?

Do you ever feel like Jesus is taking His time to meet your felt needs?
