“Not man, who can be seen, should be followed, but God, who cannot be seen. So then, that we might be shown one who would be both seen and followed, God became man.”
- St. Augustine
This week we will begin the season of Advent! This is a season of time where we remember that God put on flesh and came down to us in the form of man, and that man was Jesus. We acknowledge and find rest in that Jesus came to us, and also focus in on our longing that he will soon be coming again! With one accord our hearts will cry this season, "Come again, you have come before, and are with us now!"
Our sermons will be focused around a few of the most well known Advent hymns. We will explore their history, theological implications, and how they point to Christ and His word. This week, we will study the song "O Come, O Come Immanuel" paired with the text from Matthew 1:18-25 and Isaiah 7:14.
